Peter Prince – Biography
Music
During
the past 25 years, Peter Prince has taken his musician's soul and filmmaker's
eye from Central America to the South Pacific, from the Haida Gwaii to the
Himalayas and beyond, but his greatest inspiration is rooted close to home. He
is a songwriter and a singer/guitarist inspired by the natural beauty and eclectic
culture of CanadaŐs west-coast. His
music and lyrics take us on personal journeys that express lifeŐs emotional
depths as they touch the heart with their honesty and spirit.
The
Folk/World sounds of his first album, Sea of Dreams is the perennial favorite of many
visitors to Salt Spring Island, where Peter makes his home and regularly
performs. It explores his
connection to the spirit of First Nations people and the islands of British
Columbia. On Roaring From
the Soul of A Lion,
he puts his poetry to music that celebrates the bumpy road of life and love,
while merging elements of Folk and Rock.
Whispering Rain is an acoustic feast for the ears as the tunes flow from his
guitar, harmonica and vocals. The
album features Tara MacLean's vibrant vocal harmonies and Oool Fjolkunnigr's
flair for ethnic instrumental touches.
On Light Dance, Peter creates an all-instrumental recording of earthy and
mellow guitar compositions that blend eastern and western melodies with
mandolin, flute, violin, piano and double bass.
PeterŐs
has a new album in the works that features a dozen new songs from his
well-traveled pen. His inimitable
voice and guitar are accompanied by an exciting cast of musical friends in a fusion
of Folk/Roots and World Music. The
album will launch as a CD and as mp3 downloads in 2010.

A
graduate of Ryerson University, with a Bachelor of Technology in Motion Picture
Arts, Peter has produced and directed award-winning films and had his work
broadcast nationally on CBC TV and on networks in over 50 countries. In 2007 he released Salt
Spring Island Discovery, an hour-long documentary about the islandŐs history and
ecology, which aired on Knowledge Network. As the Director of Salt Spring TV from 1999 to 2009 he shot and produced
hundreds of stories about Salt Spring IslandŐs remarkable people, ecology,
history, economy, arts and entertainment.
He has served the BC film and TV industry since 1982. His clients have included the CBC, NFB,
CTV, National Geographic, Global, Fox, Bravo, as well as various social,
historical and environmental organizations. He continues to freelance as a director/cameraman for
