My first album takes you on a journey to British Columbia’s west coast, from the Southern Gulf Islands to the Haida Gwaii on the wings of a Thunderbird.  Vivid dreams of Killer Whales, a newborn child to love and care for (Koyahni), the ancient wisdom of Indigenous People, and the blessings of the Mother and Father are some of the themes and feelings expressed in the lyrics.  The songs were written between 1980 and 1986, an era of prolific creativity, innocence, travel and vision.  After graduating with a degree in Film Production at Ryerson, I moved from Toronto to Victoria.  On Vancouver Island many opportunities arose to direct documentary films, perform my music and have adventures in nature.   During this time I had the privilege of directing a film about the Haida titled, ReDiscovery: The Eagle’s Gift. (Click here to see a short video sample of the film).  I also took part in a campaign to save the magnificent southern archipelago of the Haida Gwaii, which is now a national park named, Gwaii Hanas.  Some fine musicians grace the tracks of this acoustically inclined album including, Mike Marshall on mandolin, Michael Manring on fretless electric bass, Dan Rubin on violin, Kelly Crowe on piano, Scott Sheerin on sax and Neil Golden on tabla.  I especially wish to recognize, Don Xaliman, who held sway over keyboards and some sterling engineering.  Sea Of Dreams is a perennial favorite of people visiting Salt Spring Island.  The song, It Takes A Long Time To Become Young, became a hit in Japan and was extensively played on roots radio shows in Canada.
